Southampton owners set for talks over Levski Sofia bid

November 25 – Southampton owners Sport Republic are set for formal talks to acquire a controlling stake in one of Bulgaria’s most prominent football clubs, Levski Sofia. On November 14, 2025, the company sent a formal letter to the management of PFC Levski, outlining a proposal and desire to discuss the next steps.

A few days later, Levski’s president, Nasko Sirakov, sent a reply to Sport Republic, confirming the club’s readiness to enter into negotiations.

Levski would become the fifth club in the multi-club model, after Southampton, Turkey’s Goztepe, France’s Valenciennes and Mali’s FC Coura.

The official letter from Sport Republic expressed a clear vision for the club’s future. The firm stated: “We would hereby like to officially reconfirm our offer and discuss the next steps. Sport Republic highly values the history and legacy of PFC Levski, the dedicated fan base, and the potential of the club to become an even greater dominating force in Bulgarian football. We believe that our expertise and resources can help unlock this potential, allowing PFC Levski to consistently compete for and win national titles, while being a regular contender in the group stages of UEFA tournaments.”

The letter also referenced previous discussions, stating: “Given our discussions from three years ago, we would like to officially state our desire to revisit the opportunity to acquire a controlling stake in PFC Levski.”

Sport Republic highlighted the benefits of integrating Levski Sofia into its structure:

“Integrating the club into our multi-club network would provide immediate access to our wealth of industry experience, specialised scouting systems, and best operational practices, to further enhance and develop the club.”

The firm proposed a meeting to arrange and conduct a legal, financial, and tax analysis (due diligence), after which they would “formalise our acquisition and investment offer in the club.”

Levski Sofia’s management has expressed readiness to proceed with talks and has proposed the formation of negotiation teams.

In a communication to its shareholders, supporters, and partners, Levski announced: “In his letter to Sport Republic, the club’s President proposes the formation of official negotiating teams from both sides. On behalf of PFC Levski, an authorised representative of the club and the company’s lawyer will participate in the process. The goal of the first working meeting is to clarify the general framework of the negotiations, the expectations of both sides, and the next steps.”

The confirmation of interest marks a significant step, potentially leading to a change in ownership and a major new investment injection into the storied Bulgarian club.
