HNS in talks with Canada over World Cup clash against Panama

January 22 – Representatives from the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) and the Embassy of Canada in the Republic of Croatia met to coordinate logistics and fan safety ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

The primary focus of the meeting was Croatia’s highly anticipated match against Panama, scheduled for June 17 in Toronto. Given Canada’s large Croatian diaspora, officials expect a massive turnout of supporters in the city.

The Canadian Delegation was led by Ambassador Jessica Blitt and Trade Commissioner Synthia Dodig, while the HNS Delegation included National Team Manager Iva Olivari, Head of Communications Tomislav Pacak, and Head of Safety and Integrity Miroslav Marković.

The discussion centred on ensuring a seamless experience for both the national team and the fans.

“We are glad that the Canadian Embassy shares our desire to provide fans with timely and thorough information about staying in Canada,” said Iva Olivari, Team Manager. “We expect a large number of Croatian fans in Toronto and appreciate the Embassy’s proactivity.”

Ambassador Jessica Blitt emphasised that sports serve as a vital bridge between the two nations. She noted that the Embassy is fully committed to supporting HNS to ensure a successful tournament.

“Football has a unique power to connect communities,” Ambassador Blitt stated. “We are sure that Canada will be an excellent host, and our Embassy is particularly looking forward to the match against Panama. We remain at HNS’s disposal for any support needed.”
