April 22 – Domestic triple chasing Manchester City will return to Asia this summer, confirming their first pre-season fixture in Hong Kong against Inter Milan.
The match, a replay of the 2023 UEFA Champions League final, will take place on August 1 at the newly redeveloped Kai Tak Stadium, with the sides competing for the Asahi Super Dry Trophy.
The fixture is the first reveal for the Hong Kong Football Festival, delivered by TEG Sport, and underlines the city’s push to position Kai Tak as a destination for elite pre-season content. Inter and Manchester City are officially on board, with the rest of the roster set to be unveiled in the weeks to come as the attention shifts to next season.
For City, the tour marks a shift back towards a more traditional build-up to the 2026/27 campaign after a disrupted schedule last summer.
The club’s 2025 pre-season was shaped by its involvement in the FIFA Club World Cup, while the previous year was also a US-based tour. A return to Asia – where the club has an established fanbase – rebalances that approach.
The fixture also carries commercial alignment, with Asahi Super Dry, a premium partner and training kit sponsor of City, acting as presenting partner for the match.
Peter Laundy, senior vice president of partnerships at City Football Group, said: “We are thrilled to announce Manchester City’s return to Hong Kong, as we confirm the Club’s first preseason fixture of the summer in Asia.
“Our fans in Hong Kong and the wider region have always shown incredible loyalty and support for the club. The energy and passion we’ve experienced on previous visits has always been special and we’re looking forward to sharing those moments once again with them later in the year, and an exciting fixture against Inter Milan.”
City last visited Hong Kong in 2019, defeating Kitchee SC 6-1.
Rachael Carroll, managing director at TEG Sport, added: “TEG Sport is delighted to bring Manchester City back to Asia for the Hong Kong Football Festival as part of two world-class fixtures at Kai Tak Stadium.
“Following the incredible success of last year’s event, we are thrilled to host Manchester City for the Asahi Super Dry Trophy. Hong Kong has proven itself as a premier destination for elite sport, and we look forward to delivering an unparalleled experience for fans as the team makes its final preparations for the 2026/27 season.”
