FIFA ends secret voting with promise to publish who votes for whom for 2026 World Cup

November 8 – Having promised to leave no stone unturned in ensuring a corruption-free bid process for the 2026 World Cup after the scandals of the 2018 and 2022 campaigns, FIFA has pledged to publish all votes – traditionally kept secret – by individual federations when the ballot takes place next June.

384 Russian hooligans now on ban-list ahead of 2018 FIFA World Cup

November 8 – Russia has banned 384 citizens from attending sports events, according to Deputy Department Head of the Russian Interior Ministry’s Main Directorate for Countering Extremism Sergei Pershenkov, who was speaking at a roundtable discussion in the State Duma on Tuesday.

November 8 – Gulf Cup organisers have set Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain a November 13 deadline to say whether they are prepared to take part in December’s tournament in Qatar with whom they have cut all diplomatic and commercial ties.

November 7 – Manchester City and Spurs have the most valuable squads in Europe, according to research by the CIES Football Observatory. Barca come third in the ranking with Chelsea in fourth spot. All of their squads are valued at over €1 billion.
