October 5 – Ajax Amsterdam has reported an €8.1 million loss for the 2020/21 season, a deficit the Dutch club attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic and a season where most of the matches were played without fans.

October 5 – Football Australia has responded to a report of indecent assault, sexual assault and an on-going toxic culture in the national team women’s game, saying that any formal complaint through the appropriate channels will be investigated.

October 5 – FC Barcelona has confirmed losses for the covid-hit 2020/21 financial year at €481 million after tax. Revenue for the year was €631 million while expenditure had boomed to a massive €1.136 billion.

Portugal beat Argentina to win Futsal World Cup

October 4 – Winger Pany Varela starred with two goals to crown Portugal futsal world champions with a 2-1 victory over Argentina in the World Cup final in Lithuania, reclaiming the title for Europe for the first time since 2004.
