March 2 – After a gap of five years, the AFC’s U20 Championship burst into action with hosts Uzbekistan in a near capacity Bunyodkor Stadium beating Syria and Vietnam continuing their progression on the world stage with a win over Australia.
March 1 – Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal stormed into the final of the AFC Champions League 2022 Final with a thumping 7-0 win over Qatar’s Al Duhail in Doha.
February 27 – World Club Cup finalists Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia are still on course to retain their AFC Champions League title having qualified for the west zone semi-final.
February 24 – Uzbekistan is set to host the AFC U20 Asian Cup, kicking off March 1, which will qualify four AFC nations to the U20 World Cup 2023 to be hosted in May/June in Indonesia.
February 21 – Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal took a step closer to retaining their AFC Champions League title with a 3-1 win over the UAE’s Shabab Al Ahli Dubai in Qatar at the Al Janoub Stadium.
February 19 – The knock out rounds of the AFC Champions League (West zone) resumed in Qatar this evening with the all Qatari clash between Al Duhail and Al Rayyan going the full distance with Al Duhail winning on penalties.
February 17 – The AFC Champions League 2022 knockout stage (West) resumes on Sunday, centralised in Qatar.
February 8 – All matches in the Chinese Super League (CSL) will be played on home-and-away basis this year bringing to an end three seasons of COVID-19 restrictions.
February 6 – Football Australia has taken steps to set-up a second-tier men’s professional league that it aims to kick off in 2024.
September 16 – Iranian giants Persepolis, runners up in the 2020 AFC Champions League final, will play the 2019 champions Al Hilal SFC from Saudi Arabia in the quarter finals of this year’s competition.
June 7 – Following the withdrawal of three Australian clubs from the AFC Champions League, the confederation has move quickly to fill the open slots in East Zone group qualifying rounds to be held at the end of the month.

June 1 – The AFC has confirmed it is switching the remaining matches of its Group A, Asian Qualifiers, from China to the United Arab Emirates following outbreaks of coronavirus in the Syrian and Maldives delegations.
January 28 – The premium women’s national team competition in Asia, the AFC Women’s Asian Cup to be played in India in 2022 will be held January 20 to February 6.
May 16 – South Korea have pulled out of their bid to host the 2023 Asian Cup, leaving China as the last remaining bidder for the AFC’s 24-team blue riband event.
