August 1 – Barely two weeks after the celebration of a full Mogadishu Stadium for a top of the table league clash, Somali football was struck by tragedy on Friday after a terrorist attack on a team bus killed two players, the bus driver and wounded five others.

August 2 – They say that lightening doesn’t strike twice but in Concacaf it does. Having lost the Nations League final to the US in early June by a goal scored in extra time, Mexico relinquished their Gold Cup title by a goal in extra time scored by Miles Robinson with just three minutes left on the clock.

July 30 – A Swiss court has rejected FIFA’s bid to revive a criminal probe against former president Sepp Blatter over a 2005 deal with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) to sell World Cup broadcasting rights.

July 30 – The chaos around French league broadcast rights move on a stage yesterday with Canal+ being told by the President of the Nanterre Commercial Court that it had frozen Canal+’s right to terminate the €330 million broadcast contract they had sub-licensed from beIN Sports for live Ligue 1 games.
