August 26 – Suspended Confederation of Brazilian Football (CBF) president Rogerio Caboclo is being ushered towards the exit door, with the state federations firmly putting their weight behind Ednaldo Rodrigues to take over the leadership the organisation as interim president.

Globo says it is still committed to buying club TV rights, however they are packaged

August 25 – In an open letter, Brazilian broadcaster Globo has committed to the future of the game, reassuring the country’s professional clubs in the Serie A and Serie B that it supports “clubs’ collective bargaining for their broadcasting rights” despite impending legal changes.

August 24 – Palmeiras and Brazilian bank Crefisa have renewed their sponsorship deal until 2024, with the club potentially standing to earn up to €19 million per season.

Brazil’s Vasco Da Gama say paying £14.7m wage debt on demand makes club inoperable

August 20 – Brazilian club Vasco Da Gama have appealed against a court ruling that would force the club to settle wage debts of €14.7 million with immediate effect, arguing that the verdict will “completely make the functioning of the club unfeasible”.

Fluminense set to make it all-Brazil semi-final line-up as country dominates Copa Libertadores

August 19 – Brazilian clubs have become the playground bullies and are bossing the Copa Libertadores. On Wednesday, both Flamengo and Atletico Mineiro stormed past their opponents to join Palmeiras in the last four. Fluminense will try to complete the Brazilian quartet against Ecuador’s Barcelona after a 2-2 draw in their quarterfinal first leg.

August 19 – Flamengo have sidelined Eduardo Bandeira de Mello with a membership suspension of 90 days, preventing the former club chairman from voting or participating in the presidential elections later this year.

WLF will back clubs and players who refuse to participate in Conmebol’s 2022 qualifiers

August 16 – The World Leagues Forum (WLF) has slammed FIFA’s decision to amend the international match calendar without consultation and which has seen the rescheduling of South America’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers that had originally been due to be played in March 2021 to extended triple match windows in September and March.

Dominguez highlights Conmebol’s €1.3bn revenue return, saying there is more to come

August 5 – The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) distributed $1.3 billion among its associations and clubs between 2016 and 2021, the organisation’s president Alejandro Dominguez claimed in a virtual meeting with his council.
