BFU to uplift financial literacy of youth players

April 22 – The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) has signed a tripartite agreement with the Junior Achievement Bulgaria Foundation (JA) and the Association for Production, Storage and Trading of Electricity (APSTE) to increase the financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills of junior and youth national football teams.

Bulgarian FA to build national academy, with UEFA and FIFA help

December 9 – The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) plans to build a football academy with the financial help of FIFA and UEFA.
The president of the BFU, Georgi Ivanov, said in an interview with the Bulgarian National Television that FIFA and UEFA will provide the funds for the large-scale project, since the BFU does not receive any financial assistance from the state.

Botev request for foreign refs for Bulgarian Cup semi-final denied

March 21 – The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) has rejected the request from Botev Plovdiv to appoint foreign referees for their upcoming Bulgarian Cup semi-final matches against CSKA Sofia, to be played over two legs.

CSKA and Botev Plovdiv met in a league game last weekend, which Sofia won 4:0. After the match, Botev Plovdiv were critical of the refereeing.
