May 22 – Human rights research and advocacy NGO Fairsquare has accused FIFA of “ad hoc and selective enforcement of its rules” following the world governing body’s failure to act against the Israeli Football Association (IFA).
March 28 – Human rights group FairSquare has said FIFA is ignoring evidence that its operations are causing children to be exposed to violence and harm because of the inhumane culling of dogs in Morocco since 2023.
October 31 – A new FairSquare report argues that FIFA is not fit to govern the global game and calls on the EU to reform the global governing body.
July 18 – On the eve of a scheduled extraordinary FIFA council meeting to decide the fate of Israel’s immediate future in international football, human rights and pressure groups have called on the world governing body to suspend the country from the international game.
December 8 – Human rights organisation FairSquare has called on the UN to help World Cup whistleblower Abdullah Ibhais, who is currently in prison serving a three-year sentence. Ibhais family have accused FIFA of “callous indifference” over his plight within and an opaque Qatari legal system.
