February 1 – In contrast to the English Premier League, deadline day in Italy brought to an end a winter transfer window that saw the lowest spending by Serie A clubs in almost two decades.
February 1 – Chelsea have completed their mind-boggling mid-season spending spree by smashing the British record after agreeing a record €121 million (£107 million) deal for Benfica’s Argentina World Cup-winning midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
January 27 – Chelsea have spent more than double the amount of next biggest spending club Manchester United in the last two transfer windows.
March 14 – English clubs have racked up a combined negative international transfer trade balance of -€4.35 billion since 2017.
February 10 – Manchester United have a negative balance of more than €1 billion on player transfer trading over the past decade. Add in Man City’s €984 million deficit and the 10-year account for Manchester shows a whopping €2 billion deficit.
February 9 – The first set of data on transfer spending and trends from the January 2022 transfer window has been released by FIFA showing an international market that is very much on the bounceback with fees breaking the $1 billion mark.

February 1 – After two windows of relative low spend, the transfer market has roared back in the Premier League with total spending of £295 million, driven in large part by the £85 million spent by Newcastle United in their bid to avoid relegation.
January 14 – The global transfer market is still reeling from the impact of Covid-19, shrinking to $4.86 billion in 2021, down 13.6% from the $5.63 billion spend in 2020, FIFA’s Global Transfer Report has found.

February 11 – The drop in transfer spending as a result of the global pandemic will not be a one-off occurrence but the start of a correction of the whole transfer business, according the KPMG Football Benchmark researchers.
October 13 – The collective £830 million transfer fee spending by Premier League clubs during this year’s (extended) summer window was not an extravagant amount in a time of revenue uncertainty and no match day income, according to a football finance academic at the Global Institute of Sport (GIS).
February 11 – Chelsea were the big financial winners in the summer 2019 and winter 2020 transfer market ending up their dealings €205 million ahead. In contrast Aston Villa showed a loss of €169 million, the second highest in Europe behind Real Madrid’s €181 million. Barcelona showed a €166 million loss.
September 13 – FIFA has released the 12th edition of its Big 5 Transfer Window Analysis report that examines the activity in the big five European markets of England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain in the Summer 2019 transfer window.
