January 13 – English football seemingly always finds an audience. The latest proof comes from Afghanistan, where Ariana Television Network (ATN) has secured the rights to show the closing stages of this season’s EFL Cup.
ATN will broadcast the final five matches of the 2025–26 competition live and free-to-air. Coverage begins with the January semi-finals and culminates at Wembley on March 22, when the final will be shown live from the national stadium in London.
ATN has recently picked up exclusive rights to several Asian Football Confederation competitions and, last year, showed the revamped FIFA Club World Cup. English clubs continue to resonate strongly with Afghan audiences, even when the competition sits outside the Premier League spotlight.
It’s a reminder that the pull of English football remains remarkably consistent.
