Unnamed French investors in talks to buy Bulgaria’s Lokomotiv Plovdiv

June 5 – Bulgaria’s Lokomotiv Plovdiv has said French investors are interested in acquiring the club. In an official statement, the club revealed that negotiations are currently underway.

However, Lokomotiv did not nae the French investors of give any detail of the funding or price, not detail of future funding for the ‘Black and Whites’.

The club is currently owned by businessman Hristo Krusharski, who has clashed with the team’s fans several times over the past year.

Lokomotiv’s statement said that Krusharski is ready to hold a meeting with the supporters in an attempt to mend their strained relations. Having the fans on-board would smooth any transition to a new owner.

“During Lokomotiv’s recent match against Botev Plovdiv, the stadium was attended by French investors who are showing serious interest in the club. Contacts and discussions with them are actively ongoing and have not been interrupted,” said the statement.

“Hristo Krusharski expresses his readiness and desire to hold a meeting with Lokomotiv’s organized fan groups at a time convenient for both parties. We believe that an open dialogue is the best path toward understanding and shared decisions in the best interest of the club,” the official position of Lokomotiv Plovdiv stated.

Lokomotiv Plovdiv finished fifth in the efbet Liga last season and will miss out on European club competition. The team’s European ambitions fell short after losing the Bulgarian Cup final to CSKA Sofia, followed just a few days later by a defeat against Ludogorets Razgrad in the decisive UEFA Conference League playoff.
