April 4 – West Ham have pledged to take seriously and investigate claims that the families of forwards Victor Obinna and Frederic Piquionne were racially abused during the 4-2 defeat to Manchester United last weekend.

Reports suggest that guests of the players remonstrated with a small group of supporters after receiving abuse whilst sitting in the Main Stand.

West Ham have launched an investigation into the matter and issued a statement confirming that anyone found guilty of racism will face censure.

“The club takes such matters seriously and, with the police, is reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness information.

“Anyone found responsible will be dealt with appropriately.”
