August 16 – A new report tracking the match-fixing trends and number of suspicious betting patterns in matches worldwide has found a small percentage drop in the number of ‘suspicious’ matches, but an increased activity at youth, international, friendly and women’s matches.
August 2 – The Asian Football Confederation has banned four players for life for attempting to fix matches in the AFC Cup in 2017 and 2018.
August 1 – The Bundesliga and Sportradar have renewed their match-fixing monitoring and integrity services partnership for a further two years.
July 30 – The German FA (DFB – Deutscher Fussball Bund) has selected Genius Sports to monitor more than 7,500 fixtures for match-fixing and betting-related corruption activity.
July 29 – Following the suspension of all betting markets on the Swedish second tier following a series of match-fixing alerts, Svenska Spel has said the only solution to the problem is to suspend all betting, indefinitely on the league.
July 26 – Abu Bakarr Kabba, former administrative secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association, is the latest African official to be sanctioned by FIFA for taking bribes as part of FIFA’s investigation into notorious matchfixer Wilson Raj Perumal.
July 23 – Former Botswana Football Association (BFA) general secretary Mooketsi Kgotlele has been banned for life by FIFA for accepting bribes in the latest serious misdemeanour to rock the image of African football.
July 19 – European governing body UEFA has removed Belgian club KV Mechelen from the upcoming group stages of the Europa League as a result of its involvement in match-fixing last year.
June 10 – Five players, who admitted their role in a matchfixing scam in Georgia, have all been banned. The five all play for FC Wit Georgia and have been named as Giorgi Getiashvili, Joni Sherozia, Nikoloz Maisuradze, Nodar Kiknavelidze and Paata Ghudushauri.
May 29 – Spanish reports claim Real Madrid’s former international defender Raul Bravo is the suspected ringleader of a damaging match-fixing operation that hit the headlines this week and has rocked Spanish football.

May 20 – The scourge of match-fixing has again reared its head in Europe with suspicious betting activity surrounding a League of Ireland First Division match between Cobh Ramblers and Limerick at the weekend prompting an investigation by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).
May 15 – When he was in charge of UEFA, Michel Platini famously described match-fixing as the cancer of football.
May 8 – Bulgarian top-flight club Vereya have been thrown out of their domestic league after repeated warnings from UEFA over suspected match-fixing.
April 30 – The Belgian FA (KBVB) have begun the procedure which will determine if KV Mechelen and Waasland-Beveren will be relegated to the second tier of Belgian football after accusations of match-fixing on the final day of last season.
