August 8 – As Wrexham were given an uncomfortable welcome to the English Championship at St Mary’s as two Southampton goals in the 90th and 96th ruined their Hollywood story line of an opening day win against former Premier League opposition, 30 miles from them in neighbouring Wiltshire, Salisbury FC, dubbed the Whites from Stonehenge, were kicking off their National League South campaign with a 0-0 draw away to Hampton and Richmond.
