January 2 – Barcelona kit manufacturers Nike appear to have jumped the gun somewhat with an advert on their official online store urging fans to purchase Coutinho jerseys for the remainder of this campaign even though the Liverpool playmaker has not yet signed.
“Philippe Coutinho is ready to light up Camp Nou. Get your 2017/8 FC Barcelona kit with the Magician’s name on it. Act fast – free personalisation only available until January 6,” said the Nike promotion which was removed within an hour with no explanation though the Brazilian is sponsored by Nike and wears their boots.
Liverpool rejected three Barcelona bids for Coutinho last summer but it would now appear Barca may finally be getting their main target amid reports of an imminent January transfer even though he signed a five-year deal at the start of 2017.
