October 2 – Clubs looking for financial relief for their coronavirus hit income streams should look harder at the revenue that can be generated from selling the naming rights to their stadia, according to a new report from the KPMG Football Benchmark team.

September 2 – A new analysis of player values has found that in the major 10 European leagues they are showing signs of recovery due to the fact that almost all leagues were eventually able to finish the 2019/20 season. However, most players still have not regained their ‘pre-pandemic’ market value.

Big 5 leagues see up to €8.5bn wiped off player values. Could Kane be a bargain at €112m?

May 6 – The impact of the coronavirus on football’s transfer market is going to be seismic in terms of player value with one analysis calculating a decrease in total player value across 10 of Europe’s leading leagues of between €6.6 billion and €10 billion, depending on whether the season restarts or is cancelled.

KPMG report predicts Big 5 leagues could lose up to €4bn

March 19 – Europe’s Big 5 leagues could lose as much as €4 billion if no more games are played this season as a result of the coronavirus crisis. The Premier League could account for as much as €1.25 billion of that and LaLiga as much as €950 million.

June 25 – Market value estimates put England and Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho as the player with the highest increase in value in the world since the last transfer window – up €49.6 million to a transfer value of €95.7 million.

October 4 – A KPMG Football Benchmark study into the possibility of re-introducing standing-only for areas in stadia in the top divisions of England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain concludes that with the new safety measures available, the commercial and fan engagement opportunity for clubs merits a hard re-visitation of regulations in countries that still have a standing ban.
