Germans rule to allow transgender players in male and female teams

June 23 – Transgender and non-binary footballers can play for a women’s or men’s team, the German Football Association (DFB) said today, a decision that goes against the trend of banning transgenders from the women’s game.Transgender, intersex and non-binary players can decide for themselves on which team they want to compete.

UCL hearings: Kallen keeps focus on Liverpool fans as French wise up to wider issues

June 22 – European governing body UEFA has doubled down on blaming Liverpool fans over the Stade de France fiasco at the Champions League final in June, but following testimonies from both Liverpool and Real Madrid fans the French senate is considering launching a full investigation into the scenes of dangerous chaos outside the Paris venue.

June 22 – Spanish giants Barcelona will leave their gigantic Camp Nou stadium for the 2023/24 season while major construction work is being undertaken in the £1.3 billion renovation of the stadium and its surrounding area – the Espai Barca project.

June 21 – Four-time African footballer of the year Samuel Eto’o (pictured) has been handed a 22-month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to a €3.9 million tax fraud relating to his image rights while playing for Barcelona.

Belgian Pro League agrees cut to 16-team top tier but doubles size of second division  

June 20 – The Belgian top flight will be downsized from 18 to 16 clubs in the 2023-24 season, the Pro League decided at a general assembly. The second division however will double in size from eight to 16 clubs, including U-23 teams.
