August 23 – Spain’s LaLiga has unveiled EA Sports, and it’s renamed EA Sports FC video game title, as the naming rights partner for the league once the current deal with Santander expires at the end of the 2022/23 season.
August 3 – England’s Premier League, and Spain’s LaLiga have both announced new deals in China suggesting that there may be a thawing in football relationships with the country that has pretty much closed its doors to outside football influence.
July 29 – LaLiga boss Javier Tebas has continued his assault on French giants Paris St Germain and their president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi over alleged breaches of financial fair play rules that he says not only break UEFA rules but also the European Union’s competition rules.
July 21 – Turkish media company Saran, who had secured the Turkish SuperLig roghts only to have them stripped and returned to late and higher bidding beIN Sports/Digiturk, have secured LaLiga rights.
July 13 – The noise around club Fan Tokens has died down recently following the cryptocurrency crash and criticism of the low tradeable values of the tokens. It hasn’t, however, stopped Real Sociedad becoming the seventh LaLiga club on the socios.com platform.
July 12 – Banco Santander will end its title sponsorship of Spain’s LaLiga at the end of the 2022/23 season, with the two parties saying that they will instead “explore new ways of collaboration”.
June 24 – Spanish brewer Mahou San Miguel has agreed a five-season global sponsorship with LaLiga, expanding a relationship with the league that will now span 10 years.
June 23 – The trend to longer term broadcast deals and away from three-year licensing agreements has been re-emphsised in Spain.

June 17 – Spanish football boss Javier Tebas (pictured) has lashed out yet again at what he describes as cash-rich “state-owned” clubs endangering the entire landscape of elite football competition.
June 15 – LaLiga’s war on what it sees as state-owned clubs financially unbalancing the European club eco-system has been taken a step further with the Spanish League filing acomplaint with UEFA against PSG who LaLiga maintains is “in continuous breach of the current financial fair play rules”.
May 25 – British leisurewear brand Castore has broken in the Spanish market with its first kit supply deal in LaLiga with Sevilla. Castore will replace Nike.

May 17 – La Liga has taken another big step in its bid for digital transformation by partnering with TVM, a South Korean global sports metaverse platform, in a two-and-a-half-year deal.
March 11 – LaLiga’ clubs generated total revenues of €3.818 billion in the covid-impacted 2020/21 season, a 24.1% drop in revenue on the 2019/20 season.
May 9 – Indian tire manufacturer BKT has renewed its global sponsorship with LaLiga for a new three-year term which will run until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
