Drug trafficker Brunswijk banned as Concacaf disqualifies Moengo Tapoe and CD Olimpia

September 27 – Concacaf has disqualified Suriname’s Moengo Tapoe and Honduras’ CD Olimpia from the Concacaf League with immediate effect because of “serious breaches of integrity” following an investigation into Ronnie Brunswijk’s 54-minute cameo in the match and visit to the opponent’s dressing room with cash in hand.

July 25 – Mexico brushed aside a battered and bruised Honduras in their quarter final of the Gold Cup at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, in front of a packed house of 64,211 mainly Mexican fans. They now head for Houston and a semi-final clash with either Costa Rica or Canada.

Qatar overcome late Honduran pressure to set up El Salvador desert date

Group D: Qatar 2 Honduras 0

July 21 – Qatar went into this final Group D fixture at the BBVA Stadium in Houston needing a point to qualify and set up a quarter final match up with Mexico. A win would hand that assignment to Honduras. It was another night of pulsating football in a Gold Cup that has overflowed with drama on the pitch, and on occasion off it.

April 6 – More than three years after being banned for life for his role in the FIFAgate scandal, former Honduran FA boss Rafael Callejas has died of leukemia, aged 76, in a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where he had reportedly been in prison.

Concacaf switch Honduran club last 16 games to San Pedro Sula after weekend violence

August 21 – Concacaf has moved swiftly to relocate two Concacaf League round of 16 matches scheduled to be played in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to the northern city of San Pedro Sula following fan violence at the weekend that saw three at least three people were killed and 10 injured, three critically.
